Feel the Forest

A work-in-progress, with a plot just beginning to be sketched out.

The canopy of leaves hover, sheltering us from the sun's blaze. Pine needles prickle our arms and cheeks as we brush by. We play with fallen branches, imagining they are magic wands and staffs. Nuthatches, blue jays, and chickadees fly limb to limb, fluttering near us to see if we are friend or foe.
