A young girl and her mama enjoy an evening ritual of chasing the moon by kayak.

Will they catch it?

Or will it evade their chase behind silhouetted pines?

Dusk is a magical time to be outside, but they don’t have long before their eyes become heavy and the day is done.

Come to the lake with Mama and Little One. With soothing words and beautiful illustrations, Paddle to the Moon will carry you and your little one on a calming journey into nature, one where it’s easy to imagine being together on a quiet lake at twilight, rocking gently in the kayak as it’s slowly paddled. It is a celebration of time spent with children in nature, where children are able to interact meaningfully with their surroundings, approach the natural world in inventive ways, and activate their senses. Time in nature builds children’s confidence, promotes creativity and imagination, reduces stress and fatigue, and fosters a unique sense of wonder.

From the feel of cool water rolling between fingers to the sound of droplets landing on the lake’s surface, Paddle to the Moon is an immersive sensory experience lovingly told and perfectly suited for family time, quiet time, and bedtime reading.

Keeli Engel Edwards is an artist and educator who received her MFA from the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. She enjoys spending summers in the Northwoods with her husband, three children, and Bernese mountain dog. Having grown up along the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway, she developed a love of the outdoors by canoeing with her parents, and she aspires to share the beauty of that region with her camera and oil paints.

This is Keeli’s first illustrated picture book. She hopes parents and children alike will delight in this story and discover their own magical moments in nature together.
